Plastic Free July: Good for the Planet. Life-Changing for Girls.

16th July 2026

Plastic Free July encourages us all to think about the small changes we can make to reduce our reliance on single-use plastics. At Power Of Pads, that’s something we’ve been championing for years.

Many disposable period pads contain significant amounts of plastic and create waste that can remain in the environment for hundreds of years. By supporting reusable, washable period pads, we’re not only helping girls manage their periods with dignity – we’re also helping reduce unnecessary waste. Reusable period products are recognised as one of the many practical ways individuals can reduce single-use plastic consumption.

But for us, the impact goes much further than the environment.

In rural Kenya, the reusable pads made through our community projects help girls stay in school, improve their educational opportunities and build confidence. At the same time, women learn valuable sewing skills, earn an income and strengthen their communities. It’s a simple solution that creates lasting change.

This Plastic Free July, every reusable pad represents something bigger: less waste, more opportunity and a brighter future for girls and women.

If you’re looking for a way to make a positive impact on both people and the planet, we’d love you to support Power Of Pads. Together, we can help end period poverty while protecting our environment—one reusable pad at a time.
