Final preparations are under way for the next trip to Buburi, Western Kenya.

19th March 2013

Sallie and Noreen will be travelling to the clinic again on Sunday 7th April and will spend three weeks supporting the Nursing staff and Community Health Workers in their vital work.

They will be stocking the ante natal clinic with the first of “The Friends of Buburi Baby” bags, the fabulous project initiated by midwife Gwenllian Ryall. These bags will contain essential items for a safer birth, be it in the clinic or at home and be given to expectant mothers on their fourth, “birth plan” visit to the clinic. Thank you to all those who have donated nappies and baby clothes and the knitters who have provided small baby blankets which will be added to these bags. Also contained will be a cord clamp, clean razor blade, soap, something to wrap the baby in, re usable/washable maternity pads. All further donations gratefully received!

The Trustees will continue to support work on the development of future services ie Installation of clean Water, Vaccination programme and the  employment of another Registered Nurse.

We can report that Evans Baraza, committee member, has been employed on a part time basis to oversee clinic business in between trustees visits and is proving to be invaluable to the smooth running of the clinic.

Thanks again to all our loyal supporters….we could not do this without you!
