David and Doreen Garnsworthy of Exminster Devon, celebrated 65 years of marriage in June this year. They had two days of celebrations in their beautiful garden. Instead of having presents, they asked for donations to Friends of Buburi and their friends and family raised over £700. The money raised will go to our bore hole fund. Their generosity will make a huge difference to the community of Buburi, we aim to supply clean water to the clinic and the local community which will prevent most of the waterborne diseases that have such a devastating effect. Diarrhoea is one of the main killers of children under the age of 5 years in Africa and yet it is almost a preventable condition.
Doreen spent most of her working life as a nurse and so has some idea of the issues facing the community we treat. David ran his own nursery, hence the beautiful garden. He is also the Secretary of Exeter Choral Society that supported Friends of Buburi in May this year.
We wish David and Doreen many more happy years together and thank them, their family and friends for their generosity.
