Many of you will have been to concerts where Ellie and Tom have played for us. They have been fantastic supporters of Friends of Buburi over the years. They have played under many different guises, just as themselves, as Living Room in London, as Puertas Quartet and now as a new and exciting Elata Ensemble, the following will give you a little taster of how fortunate we are to have such exciting and excellent talent come to Exeter.
Ensemble Elata is high in demand as a new and exciting chamber ensemble. It was created in January 2014 for a Schubertiad weekend at St John’s Smith Square and was a great success, for the performers, the critics and the audience.
The core group consists of award winning pianist Anna Tilbrook, Louisa Tuck, Principal cello of Northern Sinfonia, Alix Scott co-principal double bass in Munich Radio and Tom Norris and Ellie Fagg on violin and viola. Tom is a principal member of the LSO and they are both members of the Puertas Quartet-whose debut cd was recently recommended in the October Strad magazine. The world renowned viola player Phil Dukes will be joining the ensemble for their concerts next summer and for their first recording, to include the Elgar piano quintet, which is planned for August 2015.
