Human Rights Day

10th December 2021

Human rights are universal rights that mean that everyone should be treated equally and with respect.  In 2021, Human Rights Day is focusing on how rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations.

Successive financial and health crises have had long-lasting and multidimensional impacts on millions of young people. Unless their rights are protected, including through decent jobs and social protection, the “COVID generation” runs the risk of falling prey to the detrimental effects of mounting inequality and poverty.

Here at Power Of Pads we’re trying to make society fairer for all in a number of ways:

  • We’re aiming to provide girls with sanitary pads so they can go to school every day like their male peers.
  • We’re encouraging women’s participation in all areas of society by offering them an opportunity to start their own sewing business where they can make an income, provide for their families and help their communities.
  • We’re promoting sustainable development by supporting the making of reusable washable sanitary pads thus helping the environment and local economy.

The Charity is trying in its own small way to help make a fairer society for the future.
