It’s Volunteers Week, when people who make a difference by giving their time and skills are celebrated and thanked.
In our voluntary roles at Power Of Pads in the UK, we are keen to make sure all the money we raise goes directly to our partners in Kenya, who work to make and distribute reusable sanitary pads to girls, improving their chances of staying in school. You might be surprised to hear that the women who make the pads in Kenya are often volunteers too, who learn to sew pads so they can help the next generation complete their education.
Volunteering is definitely good for us! Two of the 5 ways to Wellbeing are Give and Connect. Giving time to Power Of Pads helps us connect with like-minded people in the UK and people from a very different world in Kenya.
