What happens when a girl has access to safe, reliable menstrual products?
She stays in school. She gains confidence. She knows she is valued.
Recently Power Of Pads partnered with Down To Talent’s Happy Girl Initiative to support girls at Olympic Secondary School in Kibera, Kenya with reusable period pads, menstrual health education, mentoring, and guidance.
Together, we reached 100 girls aged 14–18, including 16 young single mothers. Each girl received five reusable pads along with practical training on how to use and care for them, ensuring long-term access to menstrual products and greater confidence in managing their periods.
But this project was about much more than pads.
The girls participated in open discussions about menstrual health, self-worth, and confidence. Many were initially hesitant to talk about menstruation, but through trust-building conversations they found their voices and shared their experiences.
The Down To Talent team reflected:
“We saw tears of joy, laughter, and heartfelt gratitude from girls who finally felt seen, valued, and supported.”
The results were powerful. Girls left with the tools, knowledge, and confidence they need to stay engaged in their education and pursue their ambitions.
Yet our work is far from finished.
Olympic Secondary School has 473 girls and is in Kibera, the largest informal settlement in the world. While this pilot project transformed the lives of 100 young women, more than 370 girls at the school are still facing the monthly challenge of managing their periods without adequate support.
This is where you can make a difference.
Your donation helps provide reusable pads, menstrual health education, and life-changing mentorship to girls who would otherwise be left behind. A single gift can help keep a girl in school, protect her dignity, and give her the confidence to build a brighter future.
Thanks to supporters like you, we’re not just distributing pads—we’re creating opportunity, restoring dignity, and helping girls reach their full potential.
Will you help us reach the next girl?
